Watchman Globemallow 12x16" Original
Watchman Globemallow 12x16" Original
I painted this piece alongside my friend Bryn Merrell in Zion National Park, Utah. We met up for two days of camping, painting, and river dipping as we each created our own version of the view. I loved seeing how different our interpretations of the exact same spot were, and we talked endlessly about paints, art contracts, making prints, murals and all things artsy. It was a very fun (and long!) couple of days, and I went back for a third day to finish up my piece after Bryn had left, taking more time swimming in the Virgin river than painting. Zion is a magical place, and I have wanted to paint the Watchman ever since I first visited the park four years ago. This piece also features the Virgin river, yucca plants, cottonwood trees, and desert globemallow, a wildflower native to the area.
This 12x16” watercolour and ink original comes unframed, and will be trimmed to size so there is no white border on the top or bottom (the sketchbook you see in the photos is 12x18”).
